BIO-CHIME™ 395 OVERVIEW

BIO-CHIME™ 395 is a solvent free, elastomeric, chemically resistant sealant with the resilience of tennis ball rubber.  It will not harden or become embrittled after long exposure. It is also an extremely adhesive material with great surface tolerance for imperfectly prepared surfaces.


BIO-CHIME™ 395 is designed for applications where a flexible, corrosion resistant seal or expansion joint is required.  


​DOWN-HOLE PIPING: Separates and supports internal piping from casing while ensuring flow of protective electrical current across the annulus. 


SURFACE PREPARATION: As a practicality it will generally be impossible to undertake thorough surface preparation.  As a general guide gross deposits of heavy corrosion, grease or oil should be removed in order to allow an adequate electrical contact to be made. ​


APPLICATION:

Follow the sequence described below:


  • BIO-CHIME™ 395 is supplied in equal volumes of epoxy base and curing agent. When filling a void by simple pouring these components must be thoroughly mixed prior to pouring.  Mixing is best accomplished using a "Jiffy" style mixer on a geared down, (high torque), electric drill or pneumatic stirrer.  Take care to thoroughly mix all  of the material since unmixed material will never cure.
  • When applying large qunatities it is more convenient to employ a plural component mechanical mixer.  Several types of 1/1 ratio mixers are available.  These mixers take equal volumes of epoxy and curing agent from separate reservoirs and pump them through a "hosepack" of separate lines until they come together through a static mixer located shortly before the discharge into the void.
  • CURING: Curing proceeds slowly over a period of several days ultimately resulting in a very strong, elastomeric rubber.  Curing is accelerated by heat, viscosity of the mix is reduced by heat.


SAFETY:  BIO-CHIME™ 395  is solvent-free.  Breathing protection is not necessary when applying in normal ambient conditions.  Skin and eye exposure should be avoided through the use of appropriate long cuffed gloves and chemical splash-resistant goggles.  Read and understand the MSDS before use. 

GS154 

5 minute working time. A two-component, blend of liquid epoxy polymer and proprietary curing agents, which is able to displace water from wet surfaces to make a permanent bond. 1:1 mixture of white and black components. Used for dent repair and will effectively transfer the load from the corrosion pit to the composite sleeve.


5/20 Epoxy Stick™ 

5 minute working time, 20 minute set.  A two-component, epoxy based material furnished in sticks with the Parts A and B co-axially extruded together so that a portion of the stick can be cut off, kneaded together, yielding the proper mix ratio without measurement of special containers.  This formula is designed for and set up for rapid cure and exceptional adhesion to carbon steel surfaces.  The cured product is resistant to most hydrocarbons, ketones, alcohols, esters, halocarbons, fresh and salt water, dilute acids and bases.  Use to plug holes and stop leaks.  Can be sanded and machined after full cure. Available in 7” long sticks.


​5/20 UW Epoxy Stick™ 

5 minute working time, 20 minute set, cures underwater. BP-1 Base Primer System

A two-component polyurethane based system designed for general use. BP-1 contains glass fibers for additional strength. It works well with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, wood, and concrete. It may also be used on some plastics such as PVC, polyethylene, and fiberglass.


BP-2 Base Primer System

A one-component urethane based system specifically intended to bond uncured Aquawrap® to cured Aquawrap® surfaces. It is designed for use in heavy Aquawrap® lay-ups where all of the layers are unable to be applied at the same time.


BP-4 System for Underwater

A two-component epoxy-based system designed specifically for underwater applicatins where concrete is the parent material. It is a solvent-free, non-sag formulation with excellent chemical and abraision resistance. Kevlar microfibers reinforce against hairline cracking and chipping. When working in the splash zone or under water this system is an excellent choice for use as a protective coating over a cured Aquawrap installation. Color is light grey.


GS561

30 minute working time. A two-component blend of liquid epoxy polymer and proprietary curing agents, which are able to displace water from wet surfaces and make a permanent bond. Perfect for splash zone applications.  1;1 mixture of blue and yellow components. Used to fill corrosion pits prior to applying Aquawrap sleeve and also as a final coating to prevent UV damage and unforeseen chemical exposure. 

The application will determine which primer or adhesive we recommend using. We customize or products to suit particular projects. Because it's our job to know what products to use on a given repair design, we utilize epoxies with differing capabilities.
